The MSCI Emerging Markets Islamic Index reflects Sharia investment principles and measures the performance of large and mid cap segments across 23 emerging market countries incl. Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Qatar, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. The Sharia investment principle does not allow investments in companies that are directly active in, or derive more than 5% of their revenues from alcohol, tobacco, pork-related products, conventional financial services, defense/weapons, gambling, or adult entertainment.
